Year in Review 2019: Challenge, Friendship, and Celebration
Every year before I write my year-end year to review I look at my senior yearbook to get myself in a reflective mood. The closing year of the decade, 2019 proved to be a year of challenge, friendship, and celebration. Here are ten of the major events of the year that has gone!

I started the year off with taking a spontaneous trip to Richmond to celebrate one of my best friends.

March was a month of celebration being invited to celebrate Jessica’s wedding. Looking for too many years to come.

Passed over the first year with my roommate and every weekend having firepits have been an absolute joy.
Proud that we were able to pass House Bill 5829 this year to increase student membership on the governing board of higher education!

2019 was the first year that I was able to ride along with Team 26 in support of gun violence prevention. Proud to be involved with this organization and support its mission!
For the first-year, New Britain raised the Pride flag and celebrate Pride month with various celebratory moments during the month of June! 2020 Pride promises to be bigger and better.
During the 2019 Legislative, I had the opportunity to testify on the bill which outlawed the “gay panic defense”. Thank you to the bipartisan vote in the House and Senate, and Governor Lamont for your signature. A special thanks to Representative Jeff Currey for inviting me to the signing ceremony and giving me the bill!

Took The Big E by storm. We spent the day walking around. YOU had to “meet ME” and “Par-Tea” in order to “Cut to the Feeling”. Thanks for taking me and a great night!

2019 is a municipal election year in Connecticut, and I was proud to support a mentor of mine and friend Mayor Erin Stewart. Mayor Stewart has led our city with so much grace while being true to herself. Couldn’t ask to support anyone better! Looking forward to working together to build New Britain Pride up even more in 2020!

Ending the year with the family in Sarasota is tradition. Knowing that I am only just a quick three-hour flight from a slice of paradise is brings so much comfort. Each time I come down I get to know the people and geography and fall in love all over again.
Each year I end my reflection with the opening verse of this timeless song:
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?
Happy New Year and New Decade! — 2020; Let’s Do This!
