Speak Up. Speak Now.

Today, we gather here in unity and celebration to raise a symbol of pride and inclusivity. As Taylor Swift once sang, “We are never, ever, ever getting back together” with discrimination and prejudice. Instead, we stand united to embrace each other, honor individuality, and amplify the voices of our LGBTQ+ community. As we hoist this flag, it is a pledge to foster an environment where discrimination is not tolerated and where every citizen can live without fear. It stands as a testament to our shared belief that every person deserves to be treated with respect, love, and equality.

Just like Taylor’s music, the pride flag represents a diverse tapestry of stories, emotions, and experiences. As Taylor Swift said, “We are never out of the woods,” but today, we affirm our commitment to making our city a place where love knows no boundaries and equality reigns supreme.

We acknowledge the brave activists, trailblazers, and allies who have fought for the rights and acceptance we enjoy today. Like the lyrics of “Long Live,” we honor the heroes and trailblazers who fought tirelessly: “May these memories break our fall.” We stand upon their shoulders, inspired by their courage and determination. Let us strive to eradicate discrimination, promote understanding, and empower members of our LGBTQ+ community. Let us continue educating ourselves and others, challenging prejudice, and championing equal rights. Together, we can create a future where love, acceptance, and equality are the foundation upon which our state stands.

In closing, let us embrace the spirit of Taylor Swift’s song “ME!”: “I promise that you’ll never find another like me.” Each one of us is unique, special, and deserving of love and respect. Thank you, and may Taylor Swift’s lyrics remind us of our strength, inspire us to love fiercely, and empower us to create a future where everyone can shine brightly with pride.

Speak Up. Speak Now.
