2020: A Year in Review Through Photos

2020 was a year — from everything from murder hornets to the coronavirus. It was a year unlike any other. So for this year-in-review reflection, I thought it would be best to let the photos do the talking. What is that saying, a picture is a thousand words - Enjoy!

Started the year off in my southern home — Sarasota, Florida visiting the family and friends. I’ve always have loved watching the sunsets over Sarasota Bay! We had the opportunity to go and the national tour of the Book of Morman at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Absolutely a must-see!

In my final semester of University at WCSU, I wrote my thesis for my interdisciplinary studies degree. I selected, and my advisor approved, the topic of examining the history of presidential impeachments through the lens of the modern media at the time of each event.

In April came the mask mandates, and where we all had to start “masking up” where we went. For the first couple of months, I decided to take a photo during the weekly food shopping run — this was the photo from the first week.

In May, I graduated from University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a double concentration in communications and political science. Ben Platt graced us with his Netflix special — which I still watch/listen to today. I also had the opportunity to Zoom with the Governor during a CTGLC meeting to ask him about the Equality Act and what we can do to lift the “gay blood ban”.

June is all about Pride! Here in New Britain, we held our 2nd annual Pride flag raising. Mayor Stewart lit up the Beehive Bridge in Pride colors for New Britain Pride Week, and we worked together across political ideologies to become the first municipality in Connecticut to endorse the Equality Act!

Finally received that VERY expensive piece of paper, spent some time with friends, and took a [virtual] stand with fellow citizens across the nation at the Convention on Founding Principles.

In September, New Britain held a socially distanced festival -the Beehive Bridge festival. It was nice for one afternoon to see everyone and somewhat take a load off. There is no room for politics in the middle of a pandemic, that’s why I teamed up with the Stefanowski’s “Masks for Connecticut” to help distribute masks to residents in our city. Whatever the future has in store, it has in store — but now it's about doing what is right not what is politically correct.

In November, I followed through on my commitment as a #BidenRepublican — I bucked my party leadership and voted for Joe Biden to be the 46th President of the United States. It was thrilling to hear that Western’s former Provost, would be appointed to lead our state’s public higher education system. I’ve known President Gates for years and I can’t wait to see what she brings to the table!

Merry Christmas & Zoommas — From New Britain to Florida!

We had so many stunning #GoldenHour sunsets this December. Ed Sheeran, my favorite artist, graced us with a surprise Christmas single in “Afterglow”. Everyone in the “Sheeran-sphere” is expected Ed to release the last album in the “maths series” with “subtract (-)” sometime in 2021 with a tour in 2022!

Lastly, to help plan 2021. I decided to upgrade my workflow! New year. New mindset. New me!

Each year I end my reflection with the opening verse of this timeless song:

“Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
